Anticipating the debut of their album Fantasm this coming Friday (January 15th), it seemed appropriate to remind everyone what Starlight Girls can really do. A flashback to times when “groovy” and “funk” were said with meaning and not irony, “Fancy” connects pieces of the past to segments of the present. With a baseline feeling of the 70s and 80s, a general video design of the 90s and early 2000s, and vocals that can easily be identified with many trends from today, “Fancy” successfully meshes a number of different pieces into one 4 minute and 17 second adventure of mental bliss. Whether you watch the video or just sit back and listen to the song, it’s difficult to not feel taken up into the rhythm.
