Welcome back to the weekly breakdown of The Bachelorette, a.k.a. the only show that really matters. After last episode, we are down to the final three guys and soon, one of them will be engaged to Kaitlyn. The only question is, which lucky guy will get to be engaged with her for 3 months until the inevitable break-up? Here are the contenders:
Team Douchebag: Ben H., Nick
Team ~mysterious~: Shawn
This week was the always interesting “hometown” episode. And by hometown, they mean a hotel in Utah because that’s all they had left for in the budget. Let’s see how each team faired.
Team Douchebag: Sweet, sweet Ben H. was unfortunately sent home because Kaitlyn realized that he was just too good for her. Even after getting his heartbroken by the woman he said he loved, Ben remained composed and classy. Because of this, it seems like he is going to be the next bachelor as the rumors say. I can’t wait to watch in the winter when everyone turns on him and decides he sucks, which happens pretty much every season. So goodbye for now Ben, I look forward to watching 25 women compete for your heart while you look like a deer in headlights the entire time. His teammate Nick, on the other hand, advanced to the final 2 which means that he was able to introduce Kaitlyn to his family. Nick has experienced this whole process before as he made it to the final 2 on the last season of The Bachelorette only to lose to Aaron Murray’s less athletic brother. Because of this traumatic event, Nick’s family is more worried than excited to meet Kaitlyn as they don’t want to see his heart broken again. They were even crying before he showed up. This made me feel some sympathy for Nick and I was second guessing about my decision to root for Nick to get his heart broken again. But then I remembered he’s a jerk, so whatever. Anyways, everything went well and then Nick told Kaitlyn he loved her and blah blah blah. At this point, if Nick wins, then it’s Kaitlyn’s loss. I just don’t want Team Douchebag to win because they’re the worst.
Team ~mysterious~: Shawn has seemed to bounce back into contention mode after a few rough weeks. He used the brilliant strategy of getting naked and using his resemblance to Ryan Gosling to his advantage. In all seriousness though, the chemistry between Kaitlyn and Shawn appears to be legit. Same with his relationship with Nick, even though that one is filled with hate and not love. The tension between the two when Ben was sent home was palpable and so thick that it could have been cut with a knife. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up fighting to the death and Kaitlyn was left alone to watch in horror. If Kaitlyn does end up with Nick, Shawn’s reaction will probably be simultaneously heartbreaking and hilarious to watch. It could be a meltdown of epic proportions. Only time will tell, as Shawn is still the favorite. I guess we will find out for sure in 2 weeks though.
Wrap-up: Ben becomes the bachelor and Nick and Shawn are about to square off Hunger Games style to see who can win the heart of Kaitlyn.
